Management Philosophy

Teatro Regional da Serra do Montemuro has a firm nucleus of six people: three actors, one producer, one scenographer and one secretary.

These people constitute the artistic council of the company, whose coordinator is the Artistic Director, but its internal working is democratic.

The artistic council is also responsable for the management of the company, with the cooperation of acountants, lawyers, etc.

The council usually assembles once a week to decide necessary matters and to determine the line of development of TRSM.

The council also assembles annually to reflect upon the work done by the company and to plan the Works they will develop in the future.

It´s a conscious decision to keep the nucleus of the company compact and directed by the artists themselves.

We intend to keep consolidating the structure of TRSM, without making it “heavy” and without taking off the decisions and the control of the artistic line from the artists of the company.

This doesn´t prevent us from following a strict and organized management philosophy.
Sharing tasks between the elements of the artistic council allows that all working areas are determined in a methodical and systematic way: creation, artistic direction, institutional, communitarian and public relations, reception of cooperators, press attaching, production, management, accounting, logistics, management of stage-setting, spaces, vehicles and technical material, development, etc.


We consider that this micro-structure is the most correct way to guarantee the sustainability, the continuity and the organic growth of Teatro Regional da Serra do Montemuro.

This structure of continuous management is the fixed centre of a creative wheel that sometimes moves round in high gear. It counts on the cooperation of dozens of national and international professionals of show bizz: writers, dramatists, stage directors, scenographers, pattern makers, graphic artists, musical directors, actors, musicians, light technicians, sound molders, photographers…
In this work, we always seek a very soft balance between local, national and international professionals, between people with formal and not formal education, since this is the identity pith of Teatro Regional da Serra do Montemuro.
